In 2019, we will continue to ask the question: When does film fall into the category of Art?
We will be curating a substantially more diverse and broad group of films this year that fall into the realm of art cinema. Specifically with short films, we will celebrate work that make the most of the medium of a short: using it to explore attention, abstraction, ideas, emotions, stories, and so on.
The purpose of this film festival is to celebrate art film and to continue fuelling a community where this art form can grow and prosper.
We will have 4 Submission Categories:
Vancouver Island Short Films
Canadian Short Films
International Short Films
We are especially excited about representing the work of emerging filmmakers and people from marginalized and underrepresented communities with diverse and unique voices within their films. We encourage filmmakers who are new to film, or who have a unique voice to share that background with us upon submission.
How to Submit
Submissions can be entered through FilmFreeway.
Every person who submits a film will be offered complimentary attendance to the festival where we will be joining together a broad community of filmmakers.
Submissions open May 15th
Early bird Deadline: June 24th
Final Deadline: July 15th
Selection Announced: August 5th
