Cultivating Artistic Independent Short Film
The Victoria Short Film Festival is a grass roots, not for profit festival focused on supporting the ever evolving film community in Victoria, BC.
Our focus is to celebrate local work, and create bridges with innovative cinema taking place beyond Vancouver Island.
The Festival: September 5th 2019
Join us for the second annual Victoria Short Film Festival,
a celebration of artistic independent filmmaking in Victoria, BC.
Showing 28 projects selected from local, Canadian, and select international filmmakers; this event shows a vast sampling of the innovative, beautiful, and vastly diverse work happening in film.
The night will begin with an outdoor screening of narrative works in Market Square with a full outdoor theatre set up, and a beer garden hosted by Whistle Buoy Brewing Company.
After that, from 10 until late, we have partnered with Kwench culture club to host a multiroom media art and music exhibition in their brand new space on Store Street where you can connect with filmmakers, explore more experimental and long format film art, and engage with the emerging intersectional art scene in Victoria.
This festival takes place on unceded and occupied Coast Salish territiories, specifically of the Lekwungen and W_SÁNEC speaking peoples, the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations.
Special thanks to CineVic Society of Independent Filmmakers for their ongoing support, and to the multitudes of filmmakers who make this event possible.
